Lively exchange of experiences at the QM Workshop 2016

For the 15th time the QM Workshop was jointly organized by SAP SE and Dr. Eilebrecht SSE GmbH & Co. KG on September 29, 2016 in St. Leon-Rot near Heidelberg. The focus of the event was made up by various presentations and best practice examples from the field of quality management with SAP ERP and EiQMI. Likewise, new products and features of the EiQMI product family as well as innovative solutions in the fields of Internet of Things and mobile data collection were shown. On a final note, there was a brief outlook on innovations in SAP QM and S/4 HANA by SAP SE.

After the welcome and introduction by Dr. Berthold Eilebrecht, Dr. Uwe Schedl from ZF Friedrichshafen AG referred about the integrated planning cockpit for production and inspection planners in which plan creation, FMEA and CAD are merged. The integrated inspection planning with EiPLAN is currently in the implementation phase and has a high acceptance by the production and inspection planners. Afterwards Vincenzo Staltari from ZIMMER BIOMET presented the continuous electronic inspection planning with EiPLAN – from the CAD drawing and the risk assessment through master plans to the inspection plans and routings in SAP. The regulatory requirements in medical technology are one of the main attention points of the inspection planning. Especially with table drawings the holistic approach leads to a considerable simplification for ZIMMER BIOMET.

Dr. Tilo Eilebrecht illustrated the importance of detailed statistical analyses, such as in the fields of measurement system analysis (MSA) or Cpk determination with automatic distribution detection. For this the evaluation tool EiSEL provides practical solutions. Additionally, the presentation illustrated how the customer can adapt reports and analyses through EiSEL by himself to the requirements of the company. The conclusion: EiSEL is powerful enough to be THE statistics tool in the company. It can replace highly specialized tools in many cases.

Before lunch Ingo Panchyrz and Maximilian Nährlich from SAP SE announced current and future developments. The focus was on SAP FMEA, SAP S/4 HANA and the new Fiori masks.

Thomas Schwab from SAP Deutschland SE & Co. KG reported about projects for preventive problem detection by SAP Analytics. He expanded the usual quality control loop by the root-cause analysis which allows to perform correction measures before a problem is obvious.

Andreas Loska from HILTI Kunststofftechnik GmbH stepped into the practical field and explained the use of EiQMI in the manufacturing of plastic goods. He focused on the cavity-related data collection for injection moulding tools with multiple cavities. He reported which possibilities of EiQMI make the inspection data collection for injection moulding machines very effective.

Jürgen Schairer from HOERBIGER Antriebstechnik GmbH spoke about EiQMI as a strategic tool for quality testing. HOERBIGER plans to use EiQMI with all modules (EiPLAN, EiSEL, EiVIS) worldwide over all locations. Previously all CAQ systems in use at HOERBIGER were analysed and evaluated in detail. EiQMI took the first place in this ranking. Since 2005 EiQMI  is in use at the locations Schongau and Penzberg. Josef Heubl from HOERBIGER Penzberg GmbH reported about the practices and experiences in his location. He pointed out the unusually high degree of adaptability of EiQMI to the requirements of his location.

At the end of the workshop Dr. Tilo Eilebrecht gave an insight into new products, features and developments. Among other things he presented a new tool called MeldApp based on SAPUI5 as well as mobile data capturing with tablets. Furthermore Dr. Eilebrecht SSE is ready for the internet of things with EiO,  which is a new universal hardware I/O interface offered to bring equipment into the net.
